Dr McCurdy is a soft spoken
man who was referred to me
by my PCP. I had just gotten my disability (yes, After having disability granted) I had actually stopped mentioning the back pain for many years & not having Insurance for some of those you just get "The Look" w/back pain at the ER maybe a couple pelvic x-rays & out the door you go. Still in pain & still no answer. When I saw
My new PCP, said go see him at the Spine Center. I did & after speaking w/him, getting an MRI (vs. just a couple of
pelvic x-rays) when I saw him
next, we discussed results.
Granted, no one wants to hear they have Degenerative
Disc Disease & Arthritis in their spine but having an Answer to something that was simply brushed aside by so many other Drs. for YEARS, One MRI would have saved me years of pain and probably even less progression knowing what I should & shouldn't do in my day to day life. I was even told by his asst. they were surprised I wasn't on a walker vs. a cracked cane that I got for myself because of balance & hip pain. I was just 43 & had the degenerative/arthritic equivalent of a woman in her upper 60's. (I tried injections & physical therapy but ended up having 1st. Surgery within a year.) I often wonder what could have happened if by not even knowing I could have done some serious damage & possibly paralyzed just by pushing through the pain as I had been doing. No, it's not great news but it was a beginning of getting some
relief & being monitered by someone who actually cares.
Basically, He knows me & my myriad of iissues pretty much on sight. He really does cares about his pts. The the whole front staff, the techs & PAs. are kind, synchronized, pleasant
and professional. I would, will & have recommended
The Spine Center to people. I probably would not have pursued it w/o my PCP sending me there. Knowing and being able to plan for my future wisely is much better than being upright one day & possibly being wheelchair bound at a much
earlier age. I will be moving out of state soon and I'm not
sure I'll find the quality of care I have received here. I
will miss the Spine Center
Dearly & especially DrMcCurdy. I only hope I can find some other practice in Texas that comes close to the care I've received here.
